Set in the backdrop of early 60s London Telstar is the story of the world’s first independent record producer Joe Meek.
A maverick genius, despite being tone deaf he enjoyed phenomenal early success producing and writing ‘Telstar’ , including the use of wizardly electronic sounds, in his small studio upstairs flat. It went on to become the biggest selling record of its time and first British single to top the charts both sides of the Atlantic, before The Beatles
Then unfortunately bad luck, depression, heartbreak and paranoia forced him to murder and suicide. By Nick Moran, with James Hicks.
